Windows Vista SP1 Details & More

Today, Microsoft released some new information on forthcoming  Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1) beta and what fixes will be available in the final release. In addition, Microsoft also said that the Windows Vista SP1 Beta will be made available to about 10,000 pre-selected testers in the coming weeks ahead. Accordingly, Microsoft also said today that it plans on shipping the final version of Windows Vista SP1 by June of 2008 (or by the end of the first quarter in 2008) and it will then start shipping updated retail versions of the product at that time to include the service pack.

Windows Home Server Pricing Details & More Revealed

As many are wondering just what the new Windows Home Server holds in-store for consumers, well today some details have been revealed. It looks like pricing for Hewlett-Packard’s new line of Home Servers will range from $500-$750 dollars. The two models, currently known as the HP EX470 and EX475, both feature a 64-bit 1.8GHz AMD Sempron processor and have four slide-out drive bays that store standard SATA drives; the EX475 comes with two bays filled with 500GB drives each.

Both systems come preinstalled with the Windows Home Server operating system, as well as HP’s own photo web share application. Which makes it easy to share stored photos with other computers on the network, upload them to the Internet, and print them off …

Microsoft Office Outlook Connecter Now Available

Today, Microsoft has released the final version of it’s new Microsoft Office Outlook Connector for Outlook 2007 available for download. The final build number for the new  Office Outlook Connector is 12.0.4518.1058. If you don’t see that build number in the About window for the Outlook connector, then you will need to update it by downloading the new version.

Windows Vista Reliability and Performance Update Packs Available For Download

Microsoft recently released two update packs (KB938979 and KB938194) onto the Microsoft Download Center this past week. These update packs were are noted to improve Windows Vista’ reliability and performance. Microsoft explains these updates to improve a number of things within Windows Vista and improve performance of the Operating system.

These updates were leaked prior to them being published on Microsoft’s Download Center and the “leaked” packs were of beta form. ATI Driver Flaw Leaves Vista Kernel Open To Attacks

UPDATE: The driver flaw has now been patched with the recent update released by ATI. It is recommended that users of ATI graphics cards update their current drivers to the newest driver that was released!

An unpatched flaw in drivers from ATI creates a security hole to sneak malware past the improved security features in Windows Vista and straight to the Vista Kernel. Microsoft says that they are working with ATI to release an update and security watchers think that might be far from straightforward to roll-out.
