Microsoft has made the decision to "Pull the plug" on Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) validation. This means that users of Windows XP will now be able to download IE7 with having to go through the Windows Genuine Advantage authentication in-order to install and download the software.
Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) is part of Microsoft’s Genuine Software Initiative. Windows Genuine Advantage is designed to help prevent the distribution and unauthorized use of it’s Windows Operating Systems. Previously, Microsoft required users of Windows XP to validate their version of Windows XP in order to download and install Internet Explorer 7.
