The release date is approaching fast and Treyarch has released the highly anticipated Call of Duty: World at War multiplayer beta. As we correctly stated, the release date for Call of Duty: World At War is schedule to launch on November 11, 2008.
The beta is currently open to all VIP members of Activision’s Call of Duty Headquarters online community. According to sources, tokens for the Xbox 360 multiplayer beta are being sent to the most dedicated Call of Duty fans, the order of distribution on CallofDuty.com is as follows:
- Charlie Oscar Delta members who migrated their accounts over to CallOfDuty.com.
- CallOfDuty.com member. CallOfDuty.com members will be prioritized by the date in which they joined CallofDuty.com. The longer you’ve been a member, the better chance you have of getting a token.
Of course, there are other ways to get in on the action, according to sources, the Call of Duty: World at War multiplayer beta will be open to international users at a later date. If you are in the U.S. and interested in joining the beta in U.S. can join one of two ways: guaranteeing a spot by pre-ordering the game through GameStop (http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=71812), or getting first-crack at a token by heading to www.callofduty.com and signing on as a new community member. Remember, space is limited so the earlier you register, the more likely you’ll get a token.
In order to participate in the Xbox 360 Demo you will have to do the following:
NOTE: The beta will take approximately 1GB of hard drive space on your Xbox 360.
- Receive your Xbox LIVE Marketplace token (Make sure you write it down otherwise you wont be able to download the beta).
- Login to Xbox LIVE with your gamer profile.
- Access Xbox LIVE Marketplace through the dashboard.
- Click “Redeem Code”
- Enter your Xbox LIVE Marketplace token when prompted.

In addition, PC users will also be able to get their hands on a pre-release multiplayer beta version within the coming week or two. Both beta’s are expected to conclude when the game launches on November 11, 2008.
While this will make some PS3 users unhappy there will not be a beta release for users of Sony’s PS3. According to sources, the Xbox 360 and PC environments will provide the feedback that Treyarch needs to make any back-end technical modification to the co-op and multiplayer features, which means an optimized experience for everyone, independent of the console the player own.
