As many are wondering just what the new Windows Home Server holds in-store for consumers, well today some details have been revealed. It looks like pricing for Hewlett-Packard’s new line of Home Servers will range from $500-$750 dollars. The two models, currently known as the HP EX470 and EX475, both feature a 64-bit 1.8GHz AMD Sempron processor and have four slide-out drive bays that store standard SATA drives; the EX475 comes with two bays filled with 500GB drives each.
Both systems come preinstalled with the Windows Home Server operating system, as well as HP’s own photo web share application. Which makes it easy to share stored photos with other computers on the network, upload them to the Internet, and print them off directly or via HP’s Snapfish photo printing partner.
While some industry analysts believe that the home networking market is too complex for average buyers, the hope is that these products will take some of the difficulty out of setting up a home network and make it more accessible for the average buyer. We are also hearing that these systems will be available for pre-order on November 5, 2007 as well as the Windows Home Server OEM Software Media which will be great for those "Early Adopters."
Finally, until the launch of these great products, here is a couple of pictures to hopefully tide you over until then.
