Windows Media Center Online Experience

In case you didn’t already know it, Windows Media Center has a lot of online services to extend what you do with your PC. Today, I was looking at some of the online features (some of them I currently use) and I found and actually like AOL Radio Featuring XM.Windows Media Center (2) AOL Radio has all the genres and different types of music that I like to listen to on a daily basis of course that is seconded by my own personal music library of over eight thousand songs. With AOL Radio I get all the music I want to listen to and some new artists that I haven’t heard of before until now.

However, this is not the only online feature I use in Windows Media Center. Accordingly, since I am a "Football Extremist" of sorts so I like to keep track of my favorite players throughout the NFL.  As a football extremist I also have a couple favorite teams and because I am always not home to watch the game and if I some how forget to record the game I can always get the scores of the games later on and while they are underway.

How do I do all this? well the answer is simple Windows Media Center with Sports. While using Windows Media Center I can go to the sports menu and get all the sports that are broadcasting live right now and those that are on later. Also, this is where I can keep track of my favorite players and get the scores of the games live. Windows Media Center (3)

When using the sports menu in Windows Media Center I go to the "Players" icon under the "Sports" header and I add the player(s) that I want to watch. When you finish adding your player(s) you will then be able to go there again on game day and keep track of their stats (i.e. passing yards, touchdowns, interceptions, etc.) for the day, unfortunately it doesn’t keep track of the season stats (which I would like to see in a future update of Windows Media Center).

Simply, Windows Media Center has it all in comparison to that of any other "Entertainment Center" I have used, it is second to none with it’s features. I really like that this can even be extended using my Xbox 360 and it can be an even better experience on a 60 inch widescreen television in Hi-Definition. I would recommend if you have an Xbox 360 and a Windows Vista premium based PC use Windows Media Center as your central entertainment center….

Please tell me about your media center experience and how you extend that functionality out to your family and friends.
